Free Things to do on Cape Cod
Woods Hole
There’s plenty of free things to do on Cape Cod. We’ve been up and down the Cape over the years, and discover new and exciting attractions every time we visit.
Falmouth Cape Cod
One Sunday morning after breakfast at Betsy’s in Falmouth, we ventured down to Woods Hole. We hadn’t been there since the kids were little, and were delighted to see that the Woods Hole Science Aquarium is still free (although they do accept donations.) There are over 140 species of marine aquatic animals from the Northeast and Middle Atlantic waters.
There’s a very pretty park nearby overlooking the harbor. We met a few interns from the aquarium who were waiting to join a Zoomba class that was going to be held in the park. Rachel Carson (author of “Silent Spring”) was once associated with NOAA.
All kinds of exploration vessels and ships are in dock at the harbor, along with quaint fishing boats and private yachts. When you look out, on a clear day, you an see Martha’s Vineyard across the water ! There’s also a car ferry leaving from Woods Hole to transport you to the island.
The town was busy with activity, and we enjoyed looking at the quaint architecture of the buildings and laboratories of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
Be sure to add Woods Hole, Massachusetts as a destination for your next visit to Cape Cod !
