Etsy Alternatives | Online Shopping Platforms

One of my continuing goals as a Work-at-Home Mom is trying to establish a supplemental source of income was to phase out my Etsy Shop and set up a stand-alone website at IndieMade, the latest online website platform for handmade artists, independent sellers and marketing.

Etsy Alternatives

Over the past year, I've slowly liquidated much of my merchandise in my Etsy Shop that specialized  in  Handmade Home Decor, Crochet Fashions, Vintage Collectibles and Craft Supplies.

The changes that Etsy has implemented over the years became just too much for me to keep up with. I couldn't believe how much I was paying in listing and promoting Fees each month, just to maintain an online presence at this site. Whether I sell anything or not, the fees just keep racking up. To be seen one has to participate in Promoted Listings.

Crafters Start a Stand Alone Website

Despite what many of the blogs and mainstream news articles I've been reading are saying, mainly, that people are supposed to be looking to eBay and Craigs List for bargains ~ Etsy was supposed to be a site that specializes in unique handmade items and vintage collectibles.

The holiday shopping season sales in past years were very dismal in comparison to previous years.

I found out about an alternative venue

I was able to set up my shop in minutes, and choose among some lovely templates. and it didn't take long at all for my items to import.  The process couldn't have been easier!  The FAQs and Help instructions are very easy to follow.

You can even create coupons for your customers.

What does this new venue mean for me?  I can continue to sell the handmade items I have a passion for ~  I'll continue to promote my new Moomettes  Crochet Shop in the manner I was promoting my Etsy Shop~ through Facebook, blogs and Pinterest.

The only difference I can see is that I won't be paying fees other than my initial shop setup.  Hopefully, through viral marketing, the word will get out about Etsy alternatives and buyers looking for unique gifts, trendy handmade items, on Pinterest will discover this new online platform.
