Brownstone Door Photography | Victorian Architecture in Hartford Connecticut

New England has some magnificent historical properties dating back to Colonial times.  Perhaps Brownstones are best associated with Boston’s Back Bay.  Hartford, Connecticut also has many beautiful examples of Victorian architecture.

Some of these historical homes and apartments along Capitol Avenue in Hartford are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Several are now places of business, or law offices.

I took these scenic photos of many of the beautiful brownstone buildings, doors and ornate wrought iron gates when I worked in downtown Hartford while on a lunch walking tour of Connecticut’s capitol.

Connecticut was known for its Brownstone Quarries - located in Portland, Connecticut.

If you're on a daytrip or business trip to Hartford, go on your own walking tour to see these beautiful historic doors!

From Wickipedia:

The term Victorian architecture refers collectively to several architectural styles employed predominantly during the middle and late 19th century. The period that it indicates may slightly overlap the actual reign, 20 June 1837 – 22 January 1901, of Queen Victoria.
