If you're looking for some good old fashion family Fall Fun and things to do with kids, Pumpkintown USA in East Hampton is a must-see non-scary event for your Connecticut bucket list.
Pumpkintown USA East Hampton Connecticut
One weekday afternoon I took my young grandson to Pumpkintown after school got out to let him run around and burn off some energy before we went back home.
Pumpkin Town is an annual even put on by Paul & Sandy's Too Garden Shop.
After you pay your entry fee, you enter for the activities through the obligatory gift shop that has Halloween trinkets, fall decor, beverages and souvenirs, and then get to wander through their "Pumpkin" town village.
Along the "streets" are sheds and mazes decorated for Halloween with scarecrows and not so scary people that have "pumpkin" heads.
There's also a farm tractor for picture-taking, a hay maze, cut-outs of apples and pumpkins for the obligatory picture, and a tire maze.
Weekends are usually busy and this year the entry fee was $6 and children under age 2 are free. No senior discounts offered. Reservations are recommended. The exit is back through the Gift Shop.
Personally, in my opinion, I think it's a tad expensive, especially if there are multiple kids over the age of two. However, a portion of the admission goes directly to the Sandy Peszynski Breast Cancer Foundation, a LOCAL Charity Helping LOCAL Women.
A concession stand with food, beverages and apple cider in take-home pumpkin shape cups with plastic twirly straws ($3.50 each - my grandson wanted it so Grandmom bought one) is on premises, along with restroom facilities.
Birthday Parties are available.
If you go, make it a daytrip event to the area and check out some of the other scenic sites for fall activities around the area!
