If you’re passing through New England, be sure to make the Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence, Rhode Island, a favorite travel destination or daytrip. There’s plenty to see and do for kids and adults.
Roger Williams Park Zoo
We visited in Fall with my daughter and grandkids, and spent a wonderful 5 hours viewing exotic animals and having a picnic lunch.
Roger Williams Park Zoo is one of the oldest in nation, opened in 1872. It is hosts exhibits of over 100 animal species from all over the world. It’s extremely clean. There are family-friendly rest rooms for changing infants – we even brought my baby granddaughter along !
Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular
One of Roger Williams Zoo’s famous events held in the fall is the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular. It's a must-see event to put on your Fall bucket list.
There’s plenty of shaded walking paths, and refreshments if you don’t bring your own lunch.
The grandkids enjoyed riding a camel and seeing Flamingos, llamas, bison, ant eaters, a bat cave, elephants, exotic birds, zebras and more !
There’s a terrific gift shop where you are able to pick up souvenirs, and help to support conservation efforts.
The zoo offers a Discount for members of the Military and their family.
